Timber Frame Insulation

As the construction of homes become more and more varied, different materials are being used to suit individual needs and preference. Timber frame construction is becoming an increasingly common choice for new-build dwellings as it is highly economical, carbon neutral and offers design flexibility.

The construction techniques of this type of build generally demand extremely high levels of insulation, not only to external walls but to party walls, stairwells and internal partitions. As a specialist timber frame insulation contractor, ITS has all the required expertise to ensure that such specialist methods are carried out correctly.

We use high performance timber frame insulation materials such as glass fibre and PIR boards, ensuring that a unique timber frame is just as well insulated as one built using traditional materials, specifically, for external and for the internal partitions and parly walls, we use acoustic partition rolls (APR). The material is friction fitted to the walls covered with a vapour barrier as required for extra efficiency. All joints are taped and overlapped.

For in between floors, the appropriate insulation is friction fitted between the joists and covered with ‘netlon’ to hold the material in place, at a pre plastered stage. This provides an excellent solution for noise transmittance.

The
benefits

Significantly helps you to reduce heat escaping so quick from the house.

This is a cheaper alternative to External Wall Insulation.

The insulation allows delivery of slender walls with excellent U values.

Timber frame party walls have always delivered excellent acoustics performance.

Timber is the most sustainable form of construction, as it benefits from the lowest embodied CO2 of any building material as well as being organic, non toxic and naturally renewable.

Is my home suitable?

All problems related to dampness must be resolved before can take place. This should not be used to cover or hide damp.
If you have solid walls and your property isn’t eligible for cavity wall insulation.
